This is it folks, the hockey season wrap up, that is, the hockey season wrap up for me. There is plenty more hockey left, but my season ends when the high school season ends and it ended last night in the 2nd overtime when the Moorhead Spuds scored against Minnetonka to repeat as Minnesota State Class AA Boy’s Hockey Champs. THE MET
My brother had an expression he would always utter back in the Metropolitan Sports Center days when the high school hockey teams would compete in the sectional playoffs through the state tournament and that was, “So much hockey, so little time!” We would see 2 games on Monday, 2 games on Tuesday, 2 games on Thursday, 2 games on Friday and 4 games on Saturday, then we would see all 12 state tournament games the following week. NHL vs NHL
I do not remember the last time I had sat down and watched a professional NHL hockey game. What comes to mind would have been 1993 right before Norm Greed picked up all the hockey pucks and moved his Minnesota North Star team to Dallas. I had seen a few North Star games at the Metropolitan Sports Center in Bloomington, Minnesota back when, as you could buy a ticket in those days for $5.00.
